Every map is biased. While the above maps are no different, they illustrate my attempts to at least project a different sort of representation of the Arctic than the usual Mercator-based ones where Greenland is larger than Africa. (I’ve written more about many of the issues common to polar maps here.) Since the top of the world is inherently a region in flux, I’m also interested in representing flows in the Arctic whether of ships, planes, or sea ice. The above maps were made using a combination of ArcGIS and Gimp.
